A rubber band powered boat is a great toy to make as a small project. It is a small toy that can be made to look as elaborate or as simple as you want to make it look – and you can get it to sail on water. It is simple enough to make and runs on the power that is provided by the elasticity of a good quality rubber band. The boat itself can be made using different materials like cardboard or paper or even tin boxes. It is the perfect kind of small project that you can make by yourself at home in very little time.
What you will need to make a rubber band boat
To make a rubber band powered boat you will need first whatever material you want to make the boat itself out of. This could be cardboard or thick paper or even tin. Besides this basic material you also need a very thin piece of metal to make the propeller shaft and a very good quality rubber band. The elasticity of the rubber band will ultimately power the propeller and this is the reason for it being absolutely necessary for you to get a very good quality of rubber band for your boat.
How to make the boat
The first thing you need to do is to make the boat itself. This is left entirely up to you – you can make the boat in whatever way to feel like – you can even leave it as a tin and go straight to the propeller. The important thing is to make sure that the boat has a hollow hull that will enable it to float on water. It cannot be a boat unless it floats – so you need to either make it with material that will float like paper or cardboard or wood or hollow enough to float. An empty tin is a very common object that is used as the body of the boat.
If you want to make your boat elaborate and well designed – you can even try that. Paint and carve some wood – or cardboard – into a boat with a deck and a mast and a sail – or simply leave it as an empty tin with a label – the exterior look depends on what you want it to look like and how much you want to spend on it.
The next thing to do is to make the propeller. It needs to be made of some thin metal or plastic that will be firm and water proof.
This is the most important bit – because this is what will ultimately make your boat sail. The shaft of the propeller will run through the inside of the boat and not under the boat – but it will be underwater. Your boat needs to have that depth. The shaft should have a loop in it around halfway through the length of the boat. The rubber band should be attached to the front of the boat and the other side through the loop.
Now all you need to do is to twist the rubber band around the propeller as far as it will go and then let it sail.

OK, good question for once, not an XBox or PS3...
Vehicle... it doesn't say what type, so ic be a car or a plane...
Goe to the local hobby store and buy a rubber band powered Balsa Wood airplane, the ones we played with as kids.
Now since YOU have to make it, also buy thin flat Balsa Wood, copy the the plane's disgn onto the new Balsa, cut, and assemble just like the plane is. Hint, the Plane you buy will have curved up wings and most likely a logo of sorts, so you can use that, this is why you need the new Balsa.
OR, buy the Rubber Band plane, and a stick piece of Balsa. Let's say the stick is 12 inches long, cut a 4 inch piece and 2 3 inch pieces. Attached the 4 inch piece at each end to the 3 inch pieces. You may need an extra piece here, but you can probably use a piece from the Plane kit. Attach that to the top of the 4 in Middle section to hold an wind the Propeller. Now you need 4 light wheels to attached to each of the 3 inch sections of Balsa, (should be available and the Hobby store).
If not, Use the new flat Balsa and cut out 4 wheels, and attached them with a small nail, lightly so that they move freely.
No Go, Wind Rubber Band propeller, and let it rip...
Plane or mock car, it'll go 20 feet even if in 1 big circle.
