The Importance of Boom Lift Machine Inspection
Inspections of Aerial Boom Lift machines and pre shift check up routines are very important. The issue on security is a continuing responsibility to everybody implicated in the performance of aerial piece of equipment especially the boom lift. An inspection must be done during the purchase of the equipment and every time the equipment is used.
The operator must take some minutes to examine the machine and every safety functions to ensure that everything is in good condition. This is very necessary because aerial equipment is extremely hazardous if not properly used. Every time a worker is up to operating the equipment, the possibility of accident is increased.
The best means to prevent accidents is to inspect the Aerial Boom Lift . Initially, begin to check up the engine. Check the level, color and smell of the oil. Check if the oil looks dirty and thick or if it smells fresh. You to have put in mind always that a watery or milky coloring in water-cooled part can be an indication of leakage in the head gasket, or any further cooling problem. Examine the wiring also, if they are in the right connections, you can set up the engine. Another important thing is to test out the assembly of turret. When the basket is off the ground, just move gently the basket side to side and check the free motion of the principal turret gear or the slue ring. There must be a few movement but limited to six up to ten degrees only.
Finally, inspect the helms. Ensure that the arrangement of the helms look accurate and the haul nuts are tight. Inspect also the safety switches of the machine. Make sure to test out all functions to make sure of the accurate operation of every component and in order to confirm that all unit works smoothly and in safe manner for protection of the operator of the equipment. Always check for the safety manual in the safe and proper functioning of the equipment before you purchase the piece of equipment.

Camcorder Microphone question?
I have a camcorder and I was looking into shotgun microphones. As I was looking, I realized I wanted a boom arm but yet it didn't seem like any shotgun microphone that was compatible with my camcorder was compatible with a boom stand! So my question is 'Is there such a microphone that is compatible with a boom arm and a standard camcorder microphone output?
you never use a shotgun with a boom arm. a shotgun mic is very directional and must be pointed accurately, much like aiming a rifle. that can't be done if it is hanging of the end of a boom. a shotgun mounted to a camcorder works because the camera becomes the aiming device.
the purpose of a boom arm is to get a mic close to the subject but still out of the shot. the mic on a boom arm should be a small omni. small size makes it less visible and easier for the boom operator to hold. light weight equipment like fishing rod is the ticket.
if you can put a mic on the talent/host that works even better. a small lav.
most omni mics will work. if it is electret, then it must have internal battery power as the camcorder does not provide phantom power. a dynamic generally works best as it avoids the battery problem.
