We think it's what you see onscreen that actually matters, but the television has a sophisticated floating glass design that sets it apart from the myriad of other flat panels available. You can only receive channels that beam to your region, and need to aim your dish to different satellites likely.
You cannot receive encrypted premium channels for free. You need to pay to subscribe to them, and probably need their receiver which may limit receiving "out of network" programming.
You could do what I do, which is have a separate receiver and dish dedicated to DTH, from the dish and receiver used for FTA.
