How is the black and white with color effect done on film?
The effect I mean is one of a black and white photo with an element of the photo left in color. An example is seen here http://www.autographicphoto.com/Print-ds002.html however this is done with photoshop. I was told once that it is possible to do it with film in the development process. Does anyone have any ideas or links that explain how it might be done? Thanks
Many digital still cameras have the ability to be turned onto B&W but allowing one colour to come through, be it red, yellow, blue or green. This gives the effect you're talking about.
I think the only way to do it with a film camera, would be to have colour film and develop the background in black and white and then overlay the coloured section, ie the car at a later date in colour. This wouldnt really be possible in a home studio though.... so I would say your best option is to buy a digital camera with the built in function.
I have a Pentax Optio s50 which does this.
