Firebox Firewire

Amp head direct to computer. How can this be done?
I have a Carvin x-100b head with an xlr out which could possibly go straight into a preamp for recording. Thing is, the speaker must see a load otherwise the head will EXPLODE!!! What could i use to compensate for speaker load without hearing a speaker.
Further more, i was thinking about this as a possible way this could all work, here is chain.
Guitar --> Pedalboard --> Amp(with effects loop and such) --Xlr cable---> Tube mic preamp --->
good sound card like the presonus firebox-----> computers firewire port.
Would this work? Or would i need something else? Or am i missing stuff?
I don't see why you need to not connect a speaker. You can just connect the speaker as normal, take the XLR out to your mixer or whatever and work from there.
Also, why are you connecting your guitar amp (which has a preamp) to another preamp? Not necessary.
If there's some real reason for you to have no speaker connected, Google 'dummy load'.
