Drop over floor wire covers – Should you use them?
Floor cord covers can be referred to in more ways than one. They are also called cable protectors and a cable management system. The main objective is to cover, or protect wires for electricity or communication, cords or cables connecting various devices. The bottom line is that they protect either the wire or cable that is providing the source of power or communication to the device and the device it is connected to. The added benefit is that it saves from harm the person or vehicle driving over the cord and the line itself.
One type of floor cord cover is one that drops over the wire instead of having a channel in which to place it. This is a very convenient use that can be put together and separated easily and is safe. It will probably have a very low profile of just over 1 ½", and a slight ramp that makes it integrate into the floor much easier. The Fastlane Drop Over Cable Protectors are ADA accessible which makes it great for accommodating for all traffic in all sorts of public venues. This could include trade shows in large convention centers, outdoor events and auditorium stages.
When temporary wires and cables will be crossing traffic areas, floor cord covers that are the drop over version will work in commercial and industrial locations as well. They are ideal for utility, construction and maintenance companies as the load capacity can be up to almost 12,000 pounds per wheel or just over 23,000 pounds per axle. Different sizes are available in the number of valuable cables they can hold and the diameter of the cables themselves. The drop over version typically can cover one to two lines and can hold up to 2 ¼" in diameter.
Accessories include anti-slip rubber pad kits that are attached to the bottom of the protector to keep it sliding on a slippery surface and Velcro pads for when it is installed on a carpet or rug. This will keep the cord inside stable and protect the underside of it. Because the drop over floor cord covers are mostly temporary and are about three feet long, they can be unwieldy to carry around when putting them down and collecting when you're done. A lightweight bag or case on wheels is advised to cart them around. Be sure to find good floor cord covers when you have lines crossing traffic to keep the property and the people crossing safe.

My laptop fell on its side with an Ethernet cable plugged in. When I saw that the cable was out of place I saw the frame that holds the cable in was broken into pieces and broken off. Now I cant plug the cable in without it flying out. What to do know?
