Computer RAM Vs Hard Disc
The latest and greatest evolutions in computer memory storage devices go side by side and people often get confused with RAM and Hard Disc. Ideally, both of them serve different purposes. On one hand where RAM serves the purpose of computer memory, Hard Disc or Hard Drive serves for storage on the other.
So, be specific while purchasing memory for your computer. Literally, when you say that you need more memory for your computer, it may be RAM or it may be Hard Disc too. You should be very clear about the parts of your computer. If your requirement is in regard to the working or processing of the computer (if it works very slowly), you must ask for more computer RAM. More RAM helps to open more applications and documents without degrading the performance of your computer. But when it comes to a storage device for your files or data, you require an additional Hard Disc or Hard Drive.
Which is better?
That's perhaps not the correct question to be asked! Rather it should be – which is more compatible with your computer? First of all, we should come to the major differences between both the types:

RAM has smaller memory (typically 128 MB – 1 GB) as compared to Hard Drive (ranging from 1 GB – 400 GB).

RAM counts for the temporary storage of files and programmes, while Hard Drive is for the permanent storage.

Content or data disappears when you turn off or shut down your computer while Hard Disc maintains your content / data even when you turn off the system. Your data in a Hard Disc does not disappear unless you purposely delete it.

As RAM is fitted inside your computer, so data may be lost when the computer gets crashed. But Hard Disc, being an added device, maintains your data in this case as well.

Data storage differs in both the devices because RAM stores it electronically in bits on the chip, but Hard Disc stores it magnetically.

RAM uses the original file if you are doing any modifications or changes. Saving the document or file saves all the changes done to your original file. Contrary to this, Hard Disc leaved the original copy untouched. After doing any changes or modifications to a file, Hard Disc asks you to save it in other file when you click for save.
All these factors clarify that RAM is more like your real desktop while Hard Disc or Hard Drive is like a real cabinet (which is safe from spills & has long lasting storage). Now which RAM do you need, it depends on the operating system of your computer. 128MB RAM or 256MB RAM seems to be sufficient for a computer having Windows 98 (that seems to be outdated). But Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 7 or any other latest version requires advanced Random Access Memory like 512MB RAM or 1GB RAM for better usage and processing.
People that are into editing of large graphic files or videos or audios often use two RAMs of 1GB each in their computers. This way, enhanced 2GB RAM in total gives better output.

How do you get deleted videos back from a hard disc video camera?
My mum just bought this new hard disk video camera, she took it to Tasmania with her and got videos of my family over there who we very rarely see. So they are pretty important to her.
I was just playing with it and I got this goofy video of myself so I went to delete it... When I deleted it I kind of deleted all of the others :O and I REALLY need them back.
If anyone knows any good programs I could use to get them back it would be much appreciated.

The important thing is not to record any new videos with the camcorder - the new videos could be recorded over the deleted videos and reduce the chances of recovery. Good luck.
