Pickup advice epiphone les paul studio edition gold hardware?
ok so it has the stock/factory pickups in it, and...i'm not getting the crunchy ROCK! i want to comeout of that guitar. i'm wondering if some different pickups/ as in some symour duncan distortion ones (idk which yet i haven't looked t far into it) or passive emgs would hurt or help the sound of the guitar to achieve that awesome 80's metal sound i'm looking for lol (THINK ZAKK WYLDE/RANDY RHOADES!)
Epiphone makes some good guitars, but I hate the pups in just about everyone I've heard. I put Zakk Wylde active EMG's (81/85) in my Epi Les Paul and while they were much better sounding than the stock pups, I just don't care for the sterile sound of active EMG's. Put a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge of that guitar and you should have a killer crunchy rock tone. They are amazing pups. I have it paired with a '59 in the neck but use any neck pup you want. I highly recommend the Pearly Gates though!!!
