How the Laser Hair Removal Treatment Works

Every day, more and more individuals are hearing that laser treatments are an innovative way to remove unwanted hair, but not knowing how laser hair removal works causes some men and women to hesitate.  Taking the time to learn about this innovative treatment can help you to gain some perspective which will ultimately make your decision much easier.  First introduced to consumers in 1998, laser hair removal provided patients with the first non-invasive form of hair reduction that offered safe, effective, permanent reduction results.  Since its inception, laser treatments have significantly increased in popularity and are now considered the standard for effective hair reduction.

The laser treatment process is relatively straightforward.  As the laser handpiece is passed over the treatment area, the laser energy penetrates through the outer layers of skin and targets the hair follicles below.  The energy is absorbed by the melanin or color in the hair follicles and that energy effectively transforms into heat.  The heat works to cauterize the blood supply to the hair, rendering it inactive.  Once treated by laser, actively growing hairs will never grow again.  Now hair grows in several stages: the anagen or growth stage, the catagen or resting stage and the telogen or resting stage, and can only be effectively treated while in the anagen or growth stage.  This means that patients will need several treatments in order to see successful results.

The best way to learn more about how laser hair removal works is to undergo a free and confidential consultation.  Contact your local clinic and set up your free consult; this will allow you to tour the facility and meet with the certified laser technicians who will be performing your procedure.  At this time you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the treatment and ask any questions you may have.  Knowing the ins and outs of the laser treatment will allow you to make a more educated decision about your hair removal options.  If you are one of the millions of men and women who are sick and tired of using temporary hair removal methods and are interested in learning more about how laser hair removal works, don’t hesitate to take the next step.  Contact a laser clinic in your area today and find out how easy it is to be hair free.

Brazilian Laser Hair Removal, Older Women?

Just conflicted...
Have been doing Brazilian waxes since I was 15, (am 25), and am getting laser on my bikini line because I get horrible ingrowns from waxing. The Dr. said I can't wax ever again (sad!), but I can shave the rest of my pubes if I want.
The laser tech said she'd do the Brazilian (all off) for free, and not tell the doctor, if I wanted. Part of me would LOVE that, and the other part is hesitant.
I have never liked pubes, but had a talk with an older woman who said that she liked having the hair there as padding as she aged.
I just don't know if I'd change my mind later on...Does the hair really offer padding to older women? It is permanent so I don't want to do something I'd regret, although at this stage in my life I remove all the hair. It's just a social norm that I feel women can't escape from without negative attention anymore, like shaving your legs.

Chloe,

There is a lot of talk about the current trend of pubic shaving declining as people are beginning to realize it's too much of work and inconvenience and it's better to leave it natural or just trim a bit. Read some discussions here:

I also found some on Twitter who are advocating against it:
