Which one is better - piano or keyboard?
One of the most amazing and beautiful instruments is the Keyboard. This is a device which consist of keys were each key produces a different sound. This is an easy version of piano. Generally all the keyboards are electronic and are low weight to carry. These send and receive signals while playing called MIDI. These are being played from 19th century and the quality of this has improved with the technologies. When you shop for keyboard you would find lot of varieties. This needs electric supply for playing the instrument.
The benefits of keyboards:
1. The merit of this are you can record the notes to your computer through a cord which is connected to the keyboard.
2. These can produce all kind of sounds like flute sound etc.
3. You have an option for adjusting the volume from high to low.
Piano is also the most elegant instrument. This gives a classic and sophisticated effect in the room. This is mainly for entertainment purpose and for relaxing. These are the most expensive instrument but are really very good for investing purpose. These come in many sizes and can be passed down to your future generation if properly maintained. It can also be utilized for expressing one's creativity, for relaxing and it is also good for meditation. The disadvantage of piano is they take lot of space and are very heavy. These types of pianos are mainly used for concerts and parties. The demerit of this instrument is you can't record the notes which are played like the keyboard. But here the sound volume is loud which cannot be adjusted like the keyboard.

The first step while buying is the brand. These are very expensive instrument which needs guaranty. So you need to be very careful while buying this costly instrument. If this is not in guaranty period then you have to pay the damage cost which will be very expensive. Next is the size and type of keyboard and piano. You will find many sizes in keyboard and piano. If you buy a big size then you need a large space. So buy according to your space convince. If you are buying it for the first time then ask the sales person to play it for you. Buy only when you feel the sound coming from the instrument is right. Before buying just play the keyboard and check whether the keys are intact. Once you buy a keyboard you also need to buy accessories. The accessories for this are amplifiers, Ram expansion Card, etc.

You can plug the midi keyboard into the midi port on the soundcard of the PC. You will need a midi adaptor cable, something like http://www.kenable.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=417.
Or you can plug straight into the USB port.
Some older PC's do not have USB, so you would have to use the Midi port on the soundcard.
