I am trying to shut off power to a certain spot in my house. The circuit breaker will not work.?
I have a load controller and I cut off the 15 amp breaker (as instructed on an alert pasted to the door of the circit box) to it thinking it might be interfering with the circuit and not allowing it to shut off. I tried every circuit with no luck cutting the power. I even cut off the Main breaker at the main box for the whole house and it did not shut down the power. Any ideas why the circuit breakers would not work??? Why would the main circuit breaker not shut down the power to the whole house?? I am totally puzzled by this issue.
You may not have only one "main" breaker. Normally you have a 240 feed, with a main breaker on both sides of the neutral, or two main breakers. You then will have several breakers on each half of the 120 lines. If you shut them all down and still have power to it, then you have a separate feed to this load controller you mentioned. It may be "sourced" ahead of your normal service breaker box.
