Expensive speaker cabels vs regular speaker cables?
In General, speakers cables are using copper for passing signals at very low current. There are 10 thousand dollars speaker cables with thick gauge. Consider the cables running inside the Amplifier or inside the speakers are not as thick. What is the point? How much difference it can make? Or it is just a marketing joke.
That is a heated debate in the audiophile community. Before it even can come into play, my opinion is that if there is a difference to be heard, it would be the the last component to get that last degree of sound refinement. The speakers that you use, the acoustics of the room and the equipment being used will make much more of a difference in the sound you achieve than any cable that you could use (at a decent quality level as has been suggested, no need for repeating). All answers to this point are good ones. Personally,even with lotto winnings, I would be hard pressed to pay some of the prices I have seen for some of these voodoo cables. I might spring for some but I believe there to be a high BS factor when it comes to some of the claims made. High markups, greed and smarmy snobbishness promotes much of that market.
