How do I tell if it's my alternator or voltage regulator gone bad on my car. A battery test checked out fine.
My battery light stays on now for the last three days, but a battery test at the parts store turned out fine. How do I know if it's the alternator or the voltage regulator on my car. I have a 1995 Toyota Celica/ST 1.8 manual transmission with air conditioning. The guy said my battery at load was just a tad bit low but he said it shouldn't be a problem. I'm not totally sure it's the alternator though. Before I put the money and time into a new alternator I'd like to know how I can find out if it's bad. Thank you for your time.
Don't remove the alternator.
Drive it to Autozone or something similar so they can run a diagnostic test on the charging system.
